The Meat And Potatoes Of Signage
Signage Basics – What You Need To Know
When it comes to choosing signage for your brand, there are some basics you should always keep in mind. The items below will give you a good idea about the meat and potatoes of signage. It is a great place to start and grow from there.
Listen To Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel’s advice when dressing with accessories was “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” That is also a great mantra for signage. Less is more. Make sure you know the message you want to convey and edit it down to as few words as possible.
Keep It Classy
Most marketing strategies have some amount of shock value. While we believe it is great to catch someone off guard, in order to be memorable, you must keep in mind your signage is often the first impression of your establishment. You want to ensure your business is remembered in positive light.
Stand Out, But Don’t Stick Out
Be sure that your signage stands out from the surroundings. Use lighting, projection and dimensional signs to achieve this. They are great ways to make your signs visible.
Notice how the above Beertown sign incorporates all of those signage elements? It goes to show that you need to always think about your brand, establishment and surroundings first in order to make a great impression.
However you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, so be sure the sign design you have in mind fits with the area it will be placed.
Be A Leader Of The Pack
Whether you are moving to new area, or rebranding an existing business, showing other companies that you upping your signage game sends a signal that your are prepared to be a leader in your industry. This will also convey that you are a professional business and strive to be known as the leading expert in your field.

Signs Of Branding Better
Several months ago in our post Better Branding – Red Bull Wins we discussed how the Red Bull Stratos sponsored Felix Baumgartner’s Live Jump. In that post we talked about how Red Bull took the opportunity to get the logo in front of the cameras that were broadcasting both online and on television. Further down in that post we spoke about the differences between the Live Jump and Nik Wallenda’s High Wire Walk across Niagara Falls.
Nik vs Felix
Just a few months ago Nik Wallenda crossed Niagara Falls on a high wire. It is believed that millions tuned in to watch the event live and has since been watched by a billion. Imagine if a company had their brand name attached to that event. How many eyes would have witnessed it? How many companies are realizing now that it was a missed opportunity for brand recognition?
Bring On The Branding
With Nik Wallenda’s Skywire Grand Canyon Walk, The Discovery Channel “harnessed” the power of branding by sponsoring the man who walked across the Grand Canyon without a “harness”.
For this event Nik Wallenda’s shirt clearly displayed The Discovery Channel logo and a few other company logos. Another clear logo was Mitsubishi Motors and their 2013 Outlander was also featured in the pre-recorded Discovery Channel spots of Nik Wallenda’s days of trainging leading up to the walk.
Signs Of Great Business Branding
Finding ways to bring your company’s branding to the forefront is of upmost importance when it comes to running a successful business. Although you may not be able to dole out the dollars to sponsor a world wide event, you can always contact local events and charities to see how your company can partner with them. Having your company logo on signs and banners can help establish you in your community and surrounding area. Brand recognition will help you make a mark in the marketplace.
If you require any additional info when it comes to custom business signs and logos be sure to contact a professional to see how you can take your branding across the board with Store Front Signs, Vehicle Graphics and Walkway A-Frames.

Custom Car Creations for Cutegecko
Start With A Blank Canvas and See Where Artistic Vehicle Graphics Can Lead You
To start vinyl vehicle graphics the best jump off point is a clean car, without any markings or dirt to hinder adherence. When it looks fresh you will be able to picture what you want on your automobile and where you want it placed. This is how the concept for the Cutegecko Design Agency began.
As you have may have noticed in earlier posts, Karl & Amy of Cutegecko Inc. are great #B2B partners here in our community. We love working with designers to transform their designs into artistic signs. This time we were applying their logo and lettering to their new car. Once they provided us with their design concept, it didn’t take long for Ben, our vinyl master to get to work on colour matching and vinyl plotting. Their Fiat was made into a mobile branding billboard in no time flat.
Make A Mobile Masterpiece
It is important to remember that your car travels where you travel. It is really important to let it represent you and your business. Driving a rusty clunker is not the best way to display your professionalism. Finding a way to stand out from your surroundings is always the way to go. Would you notice this driving by?
Find What Drives You
What would make you stand out? What would your vehicle look like with vinyl graphics? Would you want window decals? These are just some of the questions that Karl & Amy asked themselves when they came up with their ideas. You can read about what they learned over on their post for Promotional Vehicles.
We Have The Answers
If you still have questions on the best way to brand your company car, make sure to contact us. We’re here to help from concept to completion. Who knows you might get to Hi-Five our vinyl master too!
