Signs Of Community Involvement – TEDx
Connected Community
We want to ensure that our community involvement brings people together for a common good and this new event was something that was recognized as a positive change for our local area. With our past community involvement in TEDx Waterloo we were thrilled that TEDx Kitchener came to us to bring their branding to centre stage, especially since the theme for this event was Fostering Connectivity.
For highlights from the event be sure to check out their #TEDxKitchenerED hashtag to see what those in attendance thought of the conference.
Grabbing The Attention Of An Audience
As a way to introduce TEDx Kitchener, a dimensional sign was created to draw in the audience members. This stand up sign stood out from the stage but did not take away from the speakers’ presentations. It is imperative for signs to have a unique look without becoming an eye-sore, so this one was designed for modern style of the TEDx brand. To acheive the clean look the sign letters were router cut on our CNC table.
Vinyl was applied to the letters and they were placed into a custom platform piece to hold up the sign.
While following the TEDxKitchenerED twitter feed, we noticed that the sign grabbed the attention of audience member @KWSarah when she tweeted this pic

Custom Vehicle Graphics Are Not Just For Cars
Promotional Graphics For A Custom Food Festival Vehicle
Is your promotional vehicle giving your brand all the credit it deserves? David from Bread Heads decided very quickly that his Wood Fired Pizza Trailer needed to be branded better. He was already creating a lot of buzz at outdoor festivals with his unique trailer but quickly realized that highway travelers were taking a second look as he was towing it to or from the festival site.
Big Branding Design Decisions
David came to The Sign Depot for assistance in branding his promotional vehicle as well as his company Bread Heads. Without having a true logo for his business, Adam (Sign Depot Designer) was able to come up with a concept that would work as vehicle graphics and transfer well into custom business signage for David.
A Fully Customized Festival Vehicle
When we say fully customized we mean it featured custom designed vinyl vehicle decals and a custom paint finish achieved by Ben otherwise know as our Vinyl Master.
With the large white decal text on the red vehicle the info stands out very well.
For the upper part of the vehicle a vinyl stencil was layed down and painted over to use the negative space as a way to highlight the designed logo.
Following?
Are you following them on the road or following them on twitter? Either way the info relayed on this promotional vehicle will help you find out where Bread Heads is heading to next.
Having a clear message that can be relayed through signs gives passers-by a way to contact or connect with your business. If you wish to connect with us, leave a comment below, follow us on twitter or post on our facebook page.
Thanks to The Sign Depot for doing a great job on the trailer! Look for us on the road to Simcoe tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/evAO6iYf9d

Custom Car Creations for Cutegecko
Start With A Blank Canvas and See Where Artistic Vehicle Graphics Can Lead You
To start vinyl vehicle graphics the best jump off point is a clean car, without any markings or dirt to hinder adherence. When it looks fresh you will be able to picture what you want on your automobile and where you want it placed. This is how the concept for the Cutegecko Design Agency began.
As you have may have noticed in earlier posts, Karl & Amy of Cutegecko Inc. are great #B2B partners here in our community. We love working with designers to transform their designs into artistic signs. This time we were applying their logo and lettering to their new car. Once they provided us with their design concept, it didn’t take long for Ben, our vinyl master to get to work on colour matching and vinyl plotting. Their Fiat was made into a mobile branding billboard in no time flat.
Make A Mobile Masterpiece
It is important to remember that your car travels where you travel. It is really important to let it represent you and your business. Driving a rusty clunker is not the best way to display your professionalism. Finding a way to stand out from your surroundings is always the way to go. Would you notice this driving by?
Find What Drives You
What would make you stand out? What would your vehicle look like with vinyl graphics? Would you want window decals? These are just some of the questions that Karl & Amy asked themselves when they came up with their ideas. You can read about what they learned over on their post for Promotional Vehicles.
We Have The Answers
If you still have questions on the best way to brand your company car, make sure to contact us. We’re here to help from concept to completion. Who knows you might get to Hi-Five our vinyl master too!
De – VINYL Intervention Using Vinyl Graphics and Decals
The Change-Up
Sometimes the simplest items can be transformed with just a few additions. A great example of this is a stainless steel bar fridge becoming a collector’s item by adding a few artistic extras to the front of it.
This hum-drum, run of the mill appliance came in looking like this
and with the addition of some digitally printed vinyl graphics, will be leaving as the showpiece for upcoming Super Bowl giveaway at a local establishment. The artistic sign decals transformed the bar fridge into a promotional product, branded to advertise the business doing the giveaway.
Changing the outside of the refrigerator door, did not change how the appliance works, but gave it a unique look and changed it into a “collectible”
All it takes is a little inspiration to change everyday items into “must have” and “one of kind” items. The use of vinyl decals and digitally printed vinyl graphics can transform the ordinary to the extraordinary.
Simple Steps To Using Vinyls
- Know what type of surface you’re applying your vinyl to
- Make sure to measure (& then measure again)
- Take time to consider the colour scheme surrounding the object
- Ensure your vinyls are applied by a professional
Somethings Are Better Left To The Imagination
Not every surface should be left untouched. The Jennifer Brouwer Design Blog featured chalkboard paint as a design element. Chalkboard paint can be messy if not applied to a properly sanded surface. Why not try it vinyl form? Chalkboard vinyl is the newest addition to our vinyl lineup. Now it has me pinning what projects would look great in our new Chalkboard Vinyl. Check out our Pinterest Board USES FOR CHALKBOARD VINYL .
So whether you need window graphics, vehicle branding or just looking to spruce things up, think about how you can implement some vinyl into your next project and stage your own De – vinyl intervention.
Five Ways Custom Vinyl Signs And Graphics Can Help Grow Your Business
Man of Mystery
Over the last few posts you have been introduced to Dave, Peter & myself , but have you met our Vinyl Master? He takes care of tons of departments here. Vinyl Vehicle graphics, Banners and A-Frame signs are his specialty but the list doesn’t end there. He creates window graphics, simulates etchmarked glass, prepares trade show signs and so much more.
Five Ways Vinyl Signs Can Help Grow Your Business
-
Vehicle graphics work well as mobile advertising for your fleet and as promotional vehicles
-
Banners work well as temporary signage especially for “Opening Soon” messages
-
A-Frames capture walk by traffic and can be customized to add chalkboard, white boards and quick sale messages
-
Vinyl window graphics are great way to stand out and be noticed in busy urban areas where there is a lot of vehicle as well as pedestrian traffic.
-
Trade show signs can be a combination of the sign types listed above but there are a lot of other options as well. The key is to stand out from everything else around you, but still look tasteful.
Time Is On Your Side
Any of the above signs can easily be created within a week’s time, so if you have a slower period in sales and want to run a quick promotion vinyl signs are a great way to go. We have lots of colour choices when it comes to vinyl graphics and decal which makes it easy to match the pantones in your logo. If you have any additional questions about how custom vinyl signs can help your business make sure to contact Ben and he can go over what would work best for your company’s signage needs.
The hardest part is getting him to pose for a picture.
So have you met this Mystery Man? What did he make for you?
