Signs Of Change In St. Jacobs Ontario
St. Jacobs
St. Jacobs Ontario is a well known tourist attraction in Southern Ontario Canada. Best known for its two shopping areas, The St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market and the St. Jacobs Village Shops. Each area is a vibrant destination situated in a rural setting. To reflect both the heritage of the locale and the modern day shopping experiences available, The Sign Depot has made several signs for this area over the years. Many are featured in the video below.
Signs Of Change
After the fire at the St Jacobs Farmers’ Market years ago, a new building was erected and it showed that the market was able to withstand the obstacles that it had to overcome. The signage for the market was bright and cheerful just like the market vendors you can find there.
The Village of St. Jacobs is making changes as well. Recently we produced WELCOME signs for the area. These dimensional signs give travelers a warm welcome as they enter the village and serve as a landmark for this destination.
As years go by the retailers in St. Jacobs Village Shops change as well. Last month Nights of Napery moved into the shopping area and our expert sign-makers created a custom cedar sandblasted sign for the exterior of their shop. This eye catching sign serves as a wayfinding item but also give the sentiment of relaxation with the night scene that was carved into the sign.

A New Landmark For Waterloo Region When St Jacobs Market Opens Its New Building
St Jacobs Market Celebrates Their New Landmark
It was last October when we wrote about Canada Am visiting the St Jacobs Farmers’ Market. Now the St Jacobs Market has more exciting news to share. After their landmark building was destroyed by a fire, they are now ready to unveil their new building this Thursday June 11, 2015. They will be opening the new market building to the public that morning. For those who live in The Region Of Waterloo this is exciting news. So much so that when The Sign Depot sign installers were putting the sign on the building’s exterior it managed to garner a bit of attention from the local media.
It feels familiar, but the new @stjacobsmarket isn't a 100% duplicate. Here's @DavidImrieCTV: http://t.co/Rk6d9Np2IY pic.twitter.com/4UcMCZPI0H

Farm Market Signs
When it comes to Farm Market Signs there are several choices. The St Jacobs Farmers’ Market wanted to ensure that the signage for the new building was highly visiable from various spots at the market. To acheive this PVC letters were router cut and finished white. The white letters installed against the red exterior of the building created a lot of contrast and as the image below shows, it allows you to see the new market building from quite a distance.
Tourist Landmark
The St Jacobs Farmers’ Market serves as year round landmark destination for tourists. People visit the St Jacobs Market by the busload, so ensuring they can find their way around the market is incredibly important. Whether it be building signage or wayfinding signs, having a points of direction or places to meet at a busy place like a farm market makes getting around a lot simplier for those not familiar with the surroundings.
Have you heard of the St Jacobs Farmers’ Market before? Did it inspire you to come to The Region Of Waterloo for a visit? Let us know in the comments! We want to hear about your experience there, or about any farm market you frequent.
Signs That Canada AM Likes The Kitchener Waterloo Community As Much As We Do
Creating Community Involvement
Last week Canada AM came to the Kitchener Waterloo area to broadcast their television program from the St. Jacobs Market. The majority of that episode focused on the community involvement in this region, whether it be at the rural community, or the technology sector. Here at The Sign Depot we are thrilled to be part of both of those communities as well.
Crafting Custom Signs For The Market Community
We have been involved in the St. Jacobs community for years, whether it be businesses within the St. Jacobs Village, for farms in the region or at the St Jacobs Market itself.
Communitech Community Spotlight on Canada AM
While Canada Am spoke a lot about the local market they also stopped by the Communitech Hub to see how the technology community has evolved over the years. We were thrilled that many of the custom signs that we have created for the HUB were featured in their video tour of that section of The Tannery Building.
Collaberation Is Key When It Comes To Community
If you watched the episode (if you missed it just click the image above) you would have heard them speak about collaberating within the community whether it be rural community, the urban area, the educational sector, regional governement or the business community. The key to this community is collaberation. It’s what gets things done. It also encourages giving back to an area that is rich is culture and heritage. That is what creating a community like this is all about. Seeing how everyone can come together to evolve the area.
Our next Sign Depot collaberation project is with the Grand River Film Festival happening next month. Keep watch on Facebook and Twitter feeds for information about this year’s event. We look forward to this new sponsorship project for the company and hope you get a chance to attend this event and other arts and culture activities in the Kitchener Waterloo Ontario area.
