Designing 3 Dimensional Signs
Many local residents made the trip to Sign Depot workshop this summer to see the MASSIVE Pirate Display that we have been talking about quite a bit. It evolved from small foam sculpture and scaled to proportion of large pirate ship and crafted from High Density Urethane. What seems like a sign of epic proportions here in The Sign Depot workspace, ends up looking quite different as this 3 dimensional sign is raised to new heights.
Sign Proportion And Height Perception
Although this 3 dimensional sign structure became quite a showpiece in our sign shop here in Kitchener Ontario, the Pirates were created for a different locale altogether. Yesterday crew made the trek to Niagara Falls Ontario where the pirate display became a focal point for those visting Clifton Hill. As you can see the height of this showpiece sign distorts your perception of how large this artistic sign structure truly is.

3 Dimensional Sign Letters – Williams Fresh Cafe Rebrand
When A Well Recognized Business Brand Decides To Refresh
Many Williams establishments in the area are currently going through a rebrand and more fittingly a refresh. They are changing from William’s Coffee Pub to Williams Fresh Cafe. The reason for Williams new branding is explained by Corey Dalton CEO of Williams Fresh Cafe on the Williams Fresh Cafe website
“People’s palates are becoming increasingly more refined with restaurant expansions and the food education they receive via pop culture. Also, consumers have far more access to global foods through the supermarkets offerings as globalization continues,” Dalton said.
This switch to fresh fare required a change for all their company signs and required a new green influenced colour scheme to match the refreshed brand. The Williams restaurants we worked on required a couple of sign elements. The 3 dimensional sign letters that hang from a bulk head over the menu boards were the noticable difference between the new branding and the orginal Coffee Pub signs. Frosted vinyl window graphics were also a part of the business sign solutions we provided. These window decals add to the warm and friendly entrance-way.

Sculptural Signs – An Update On The Mounties
Sculptural Signs Add Artistic Elements To Outdoor Displays
Remember at the end of July when we I posted about the Dimensional Mounties? These replica RCMP officers have now been delivered to their permanent home in Niagara Falls. The Souvenir City Store in Niagara Falls Ontario displays many 3 dimensional signs that are manufactured here at The Sign Depot. They have sign sculptures for Exterior Signs as well as Interior Signs. Just some of their exterior custom business signs include an Inukshuk, a Giant Vase and now these sculptural signs created to look like Mounties. As for artistic signs for the interior of the store you will find an archway sculpted to look like chocolate , a fancy fudge store and many other display areas clearly advertising what they are selling through the use of custom 3 dimensional signs made from Wood and High Density Urethane .These 3 dimensional signs create a lot of interest in all of the promotional products and souveniers that they sell at their retail store.

Custom Wood Signs Become The 3 Dimensional Pieces To the Puzzle
Custom Wood Signs At The Sign Depot
Our upcoming project for the Air Canada Centre involves several different pieces coming together for the Lord Stanley’s Mug bar located in the building. As different as each of these materials are, putting the look together could get a bit puzzling. In order to head off such difficulties we pieced together our own puzzle.
Take a look at the tips of the custom wood sign pieces in the pic below to see what I mean. A custom wood sign routered to make a 3 dimensional maple leaf is just the beginning of the steps required for this sculptural sign. There will need to be logos and lights created to make this sign feature the beginning of a rebrand for the Lord Stanley’s Mug bar. It’s a summer of sculptural signs here at The Sign Depot. We’ve stared with 3 dimensional signs for an outdoor sign display featuring a Pirate Ship and Crew and now we are moving to more of a patriotic focal point with the freshly constructed Mounties.
These Royal Canadian Mounted Police replicas will prepped for custom paint finishes and will be heading to Souvenir City in Niagara Falls Ontario. There they will be part of their exterior sign display meant to attract passers-by and encourage them to stop in to their retail store.
